Home is Peace

You'll want to start over at the Unity Blog- someone is going to win some fabulous Unity rubber stamps! Look for the blinkie as you make your way through the blogs and don't forget to leave a comment!

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest..." Matthew 11:28- this verse was the basis of the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge this week. The challenge was to create a card that symbolized peace or rest. For me- as I was going through the sketch challenges (and I can't remember which one this is) and flipping through my stamps I came to this image and I knew I had in my hands what symbolized a place of peace. Now, the obvious place for me would be heaven but since nobody has figured out how to create a stamp of heaven.... :)

Anyway, on to the card. Proverbs 31:28-30 says:
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:

29 "Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all."

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

These verses define my mom. She is, and always has been, a woman who fears the LORD and has lived that throughout the quietness of her life. She has been a living example of a woman who deeply loves God, her husband, and her children on a daily basis. She is my peace. She is the one who loves me no matter what I do. I know that I can call or come home whenever I need to.

"Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! 10Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. " Hebrews 12:9-11.

These verses are my father. Now, we aren't focusing on the discipline here- but the reason behind what my father does. My father has lived a life in ministry which isn't always easy but through it all, I knew that I was loved and treasured. He too has lived his life deeply in love with God, his wife, and his children (and they both deeply love their grandchild- my nephew). He has shown me through his daily example of his deep faith in the ONE who loves me more than I could ever imagine. He is my peace. He is the one that I can call and laugh with, cry with, and share my joys with.

Home is my peace- and for me- it's who lives in that home that give me that peace- the assurance that I am loved.

Well oldest daughter. I didn't know you even had a blog. Now i have one more to add to my list in google reader. It will have to take the place of FB since you know your mom won't let me be on FB. LOL I am honored that you feel this way about me. I know i have much to look back on and ask "why did I do/say that?" but it is posts like this that remind me that even out of unworthy vessels God can make something beautiful. He did a super job with you. Love you tons.
